A fine quiet morning, drop of rain overnight, some schooling for Titian Boy, Bracing, Buffalo Ballet and Presently Tipsy, the rest on the AW and a few round the farm.  A bitter east wind at Alnwick yesterday but a large crowd gathered to watch good competitive point-to-pointing, Rossini’s Dancer and Royal Chatelier both made good debuts to finish 5th and 6th in the Men’s Open and Afterclass ran another solid race to be 3rd, another good win for Kit on Stoney in the Restricted.

Another Mattie

Another Mattie

On to Carlisle today where the ground is soft with good to soft places on the chase track, Lucy rides our three runners starting with Another Mattie in the 3.25, 11 run, he hasn’t really taken to fences to date so we are trying a pair of cheek pieces to encourage him to take on his fences a bit more boldly.

Landecker

Landecker

Then Landecker runs in 4.00, 10 run, he ran well for a long way over 3m on bad ground here and is beginning to look more feasibly weighted.  Finally Frankie’s Promise runs in the 5pm, 14 run, he has yet to find his form this season but seems well at home and has saved his best for the spring in the past.

Frankie's Promise

Frankie’s Promise

The second lorry will be leaving here at lunchtime to go to Wetherby with three runners scheduled to run there tomorrow on what is likely to be just on the soft side of good ground, Stephen’s turn in the saddle, more to follow on their prospects later I hope…
