A lovely warm breezy autumn morning, a rare and appreciated chance to take horses to Perth racecourse for a gallop;  El Fontan, Spinning Away, Ceilidh, Presently Tipsy and Clan Legend all went well and should be on the track next month.  A splendid two days’ racing to end Perth’s season and our only runner Rossini’s Dancer acquitted himself well to finish 4th yesterday, our stats there for the season – 27 runners, 3 winners, 10 placed – about in line with our wider average;  target next season, more runners, at least 40 and improve those percentages!

3 of Lucy’s 4 rides non-runners yesterday, a little frustrating for her at a time when she could do with a few more good rides, it’s always tough  when a jockey loses their claim and her first season as a fully fledged professional wasn’t helped by 3 spells injured, rides are scarce for most jockeys through the summer but she is in an excellent position looking forward as first jockey here as well as riding for James Ewart, I think we have about 90 horses between us so let’s hope it all works out, won’t fail from lack of effort on her part; off down there at 4am this morning and as dedicated as ever fitness-wise.

There are two good things about the end of Perth's season - we can work our horses on the track and certain members of team Kinneston don't need to find a corner to lie down between lots!

So, now to golf for the weekend, the world’s greatest tournament on our doorstep and the skies are alive with the sound of helicopters, huge anticipation and it looks like the weather will behave perfectly, a strong wind but warm and sunny, certainly won’t be easy and I am delighted to be going along tomorrow to watch on a course I know well, racing wise it doesn’t look like we will be going to Sedgefield and the weather will determine  whether we end up at Hexham and Kelso next weekend, enjoy the golf!
