A fine morning but clouding over and an increasingly strong and cool east wind, a change not far away. A schooling morning for Or de Grugy, Milano Magic, Daasij, Capital Venture, Little Glenshee, Jet Master, Northern Acres and Frankies Promise, still firm but taking the little and often approach. Some advertising… we have an attractive […]
So, another Perth season comes to an end and the roar that went up as “AP” drove the winner clear in the concluding bumper was worthy of any racecourse anywhere, a fitting finale. Despite no joy with our runner yesterday it was an excellent day’s racing that I thoroughly enjoyed on a number of levels, […]
A marvelous day’s racing at Perth yesterday, good to see really competitive racing there again after some rather lacklustre fare through the summer.
Sadly our horses failed to get involved at the business end of their races, Rossini’s Dancer losing a lot of ground when proving reluctant to head out for a second circuit and ending […]
So, at last, racing again, Perth tomorrow where the ground should be good having been well-watered. We run Rossini’s Dancer in the opener at 2.20, 8 run and Lucy rides, he is theoretically “well- in” at these weights in relation to his chase form but not at all “well-in” in relation to his hurdle form.
Quiet but purposeful today after busy day yesterday with our inaugural Owners’ Pre-Season Lunch; blessed with glorious weather the preceding 24 hours were not entirely stress free.
To start off with one of first lot decided to pretend it had a broken leg, luckily fine 10 minutes later, then coming in to wash down the cobbles […]
Cool and crisp this morning, a glorious sunrise and forecast fair for the weekend, a glimpse of an Indian summer on the way perhaps; a drop of rain yesterday, maybe 4-5mm, all helps but grass still on the firm side, hopefully the irrigation will be going full tilt at Perth for their Glorious Finale meeting […]
Cool today, sharp wind, a reminder of what is to come. Routine Monday morning, most working on the all-weather, apparently fresh and well, all back home in one piece. Three of the pointers back in today together with Buffalo Ballet and un-named 3yo’s by Craigsteel and Midnight Legend – all will have a couple of […]
A busy week on the yard but a difficult one with Macgregors Ace being ruled out for the season and the team having to deal with an ultimately fatal secondary injury to Elmaatigra.
Bred jointly by Johnny Bradburne and Mark Fleming I first encountered this horse two years ago when I unexpectedly bumped into Susan working […]
Weather continues to be kind and horses working hard, on the all-weather, on the riverbank and on a newly harrowed track in the carrot field. They seem fresh and well and hopefully they are getting fit, grass still too firm but we are rather optimistically setting up the schooling hurdles and fences so that we […]
A cool 10 degrees on the gallops on Saturday morning, breezy and a decent dollop of overnight rain but nothing extreme unlike Redcar, 55mm Friday, ouch, going now heavy. Watched first lot, hopefully organised 2nd and 3rd lots then quick transfer to playing fields of Edinburgh, rugby season, that time of year again, the touchline, […]
